According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports Radio, the Kevin Durant trade is very close, with Phoenix continuing to work with multiple teams to get the deal they want. Gambadoro expects the trade to happen today or tomorrow.

Several teams have been linked to Durant this offseason, including the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors, and Houston Rockets, who are considered the strongest contenders at this stage.

Durant is said to favor three teams as potential landing spots: the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets.

Durant, the 2014 NBA MVP and four-time scoring champion, is entering the final year of his contract in the 2025–26 season.

Despite being in the later stages of his career, he remains highly productive, averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this past season.
