EuroLeague CEO Paulius Motiejunas addressed rumors about ASVEL’s financial difficulties, stating there are no worrying indications regarding their participation in next season’s EuroLeague and that ASVEL’s front office is doing everything possible to resolve the situation.
In a remote press conference on Friday, EuroLeague CEO Paulius Motiejunas addressed the rumors surrounding LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne’s financial difficulties.
Motiejunas expressed confidence, stating there are no concerning signs from ASVEL’s side regarding their participation in next season’s EuroLeague. He praised the team’s front office for their efforts in resolving the situation.
"We are in talks with Tony (Parker), we are in talks with Gaetan (Muller, ASVEL's GM). We also hear the rumors that are there in the media, generally, that we read. But we trust what Tony is saying. We trust what Gaetan is saying. We know that they're doing hard work to make everything work out," Motiejunas stated.
"So we are very positive that they will do it," he added. "We don't have any doubts that they will be successful."
"So if you ask us, there are no signals, especially from their side, that we should be worried about their participation for next season. So we are hoping and hopeful that it will stay this way," EuroLeague CEO said.
ASVEL finished the season 15th in the EuroLeague with a 13-21 record. In the French League, they secured second place in the regular season but ultimately fell short of reaching the finals, losing 1-3 to Monaco in the semifinals.
