The Final Four excitement turned into an ordeal for around 200 Greek fans of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens and Olympiacos Piraeus, stuck in Kutaisi, Georgia, for 40 hours on their way back from Abu Dhabi. The return flight, delayed multiple times, is now set for Tuesday at 7 PM.

The fans had booked flights with a layover in Kutaisi but found themselves trapped without clear answers. Kostas Harokopos, one of the fans, described the frustrating situation to the ERT.

“We were given a snack but no water. When we asked to use the restroom, the airline changed the departure to 5:30 PM. Then, at 6 PM, while at ticket control, the flight was postponed again to 7:30 PM. Finally, at 7:40 PM, the flight was canceled,” Kostas explained.

After the cancellation, fans were bused to a hotel at 10:45 PM, with only vague updates since then.

“They said the crew was afraid to fly with us, which made no sense. Most of us are men who came for the Final Four. If there was a real problem, someone would have been removed and the rest allowed to fly. Some fans even lost their jobs due to the delay. So far, only the hotel costs are covered, and we haven’t been fed properly,” Kostas added.
