According to Vijesti, the club's bank account has been blocked by the City of Podgorica.

As the Director of the Administration of Local Public Revenues, Aleksandar Rasovic, later explained, it was related to the club's debt to the city.

Namely, Buducnost haven't paid €152,840.90 in personal income taxes for the period of December 1, 2020 – April 1, 2024. Additionally, an interest of €25,989.50 for not paying the debt on time was calculated for the total debt of €178,830.30.

Local authorities issued a decision on compulsory collection, but the payments were still not received. As such, the Central Bank of Montenegro issued a suspension of the account. Buducnost are said not have not appealed any of the decisions.

"It's an understatement to say that I was taken aback," the president of Buducnost, Dragan Bokan, told Vijesti.

Bokan pushed the blame on the city's municipality, which is the owner of the club, and the government of Montenegro.

"The club is the property of the Capital City [of Podgorica], and as is known, the agreement is that half of the club's budget is provided by the Capital City and the State. That agreement, however, was not honored either last year or this year. Certainly, if the state and the city had fulfilled their obligations, the debt would not have arisen," he said.

"Unlike them, the VOLI company, along with the companies whose representatives are on the Board of Directors of KK Buducnost VOLI, fully fulfilled their obligations."

A Board of Directors meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 26th, after which the club will announce its next steps.
