Tyrone Wallace is anticipated to be Zalgiris' key offensive player next season, per BasketNews sources.
Zalgiris Kaunas are nearing an agreement with a 30-year-old scorer, Tyrone Wallace, sources tell BasketNews.
Wallace is coming off a two-year stint in the EuroCup, where he was the third-highest scorer last season.
The 1.96m guard, who can play both point guard and shooting guard positions, averaged 17.9 points on 44.5% shooting from two-point range and 39.1% from three-point range, along with 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game for Turk Telekom Ankara.
With Wallace, Zalgiris now has two of the top three scorers from last season's EuroCup, including Deividas Sirvydis.
Wallace ranks second in total points scored in the EuroCup since the 2022-23 season, trailing Xavier Munford by just four points and playing four fewer games.
Wallace tied his career-high with 31 points against Lithuanian team Lietkabelis Panevezys in January, shooting 8 of 10 from two-point range. He showcased his shooting range by going 7 of 8 from beyond the arc in another 31-point performance against Ulm.
In 17 out of 19 EuroCup games, Wallace scored in double digits. In six games, he recorded 20 or more points and six or more assists. He also notched a career-high 10 assists against Lietkabelis during the 2022-23 season.
In the 2023-24 Turkish league season, Wallace averaged 17.3 points on 57.1% shooting from two-point range and 30.2% from three-point range. He also added 5.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
He has scored 20 or more points in 12 of 32 Turkish league games.
In back-to-back late-season regular games against EuroLeague teams Fenerbahce and Anadolu Efes, Wallace led Turk Telekom to two victories, averaging 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists.
